Red Ribbon Week

October 30th, 2018

This year during Red Ribbon Week, we concentrate our attention on a more “Natural High.”

We learn about the harmful effects of drugs and alcohol every day on television, the news, social media platforms, our parents, and our peers.

We know that the use of drugs and alcohol has a range of consequences from health issues to irresponsible and potentially deadly behavior.

We know that drugs and alcohol are bad; rather than tell you again, we would like to explore the activities that give us a natural high.

David Wright - New York Mets
Natural High: Baseball

In the video David says that baseball was an escape for him. Why do you think having a healthy escape is good for you?

How did having three younger brothers affect David's behavior growing up? Do you have people in your life who look up to you as a role model?

What character traits do you see in David that helped him to become a successful baseball player?

How did David respond when friends started using drugs or alcohol? Why do you think he made that choice?

In the interview, David says you shouldn't be a chameleon. What does that mean and why is being a chameleon bad thing?

What is your natural high?

Red Ribbon Week is  NOT about dress up days!!!

Red Ribbon Week is a time to encourage each other and celebrate living a healthy, drug free life!

Your challenge:
Get out your cellphone and send a message of appreciation to someone that has encouraged you to live a Natural High! Thank them for their support and challenge yourself to be that support for others!

Happy Red Ribbon Week!
